Imagine walking into surgery and finding your surgeon is… a Labrador in scrubs, with a cat as the anaesthesiologist. The dog wags his tail and says, “Don’t worry, I’ve been fetching bones my whole life—fixing one is no problem!” Meanwhile, the cat rolls its eyes and mutters, “Let’s just hope he doesn’t bury it afterward.”

Patients and pet owners deserve access to the best possible care, yet human and veterinary medicine often operate in separate spheres, slowing the flow of useful innovations to the people and animals who need them. Companion animals are now becoming an integral part of family life. Both veterinary and human clinicians are now considering technical advances and partnerships producing shared outcome measures to accelerate safer, more effective treatments, reduce complications, and make advanced care more accessible for both people and their companion animals. Epitheal see this need as central to any advancements in wound care and its strategy moving forward.
